Idling on empty

It’s not always a bad thing to be empty. I had a large container of coconut oil and when it was empty I removed the label and filled with my homemade shea butter lotion.  I was even able to take the pump from a empty shampoo bottle and add it to the lid of my lotion container so it was easier to use.
No, I haven’t decided to blog about d.i.y projects, it’s just that as I was admiring my work I realized I had as much potential as that bottle, to be filled with whatever I chose, good or bad, once I removed the labels on my own life.
Sometimes we are so used to being (or not being) what everyone expects of us that no matter how much try and succeed at living up to their expectations we still feel empty or that we’ve missed the mark. We aren’t really present and engaged with our efforts so we don’t get the  feeling of giving our all from the core of our being, from doing something unique to who we are. I believe it’s why we feel so hollow inside sometimes, we need to be filled with something else, something different from what our label says.
Our purpose can grow and evolve and we should let it. Life is too short and to full of wonder to try and fill up with the same things.
